CS500: Industrial Placement

In cooperation with the Liaison Office of the University of Cyprus, the Department of Computer Science offers the opportunity to its undergraduate students to conduct Internships in public and private organizations. The placement of students into Internships is a part of their academic curriculum and aims at offering them professional experience to complement their academic knowledge.

The following are some of the benefits for participants:

• Gaining work experience related to their field of study.
• Assimilating scientific and theoretical knowledge through its application in real work conditions.
• Improving skills and acquiring communication and other abilities, enhancing their chances for future employment.
• Receiving a placement allowance.
• Connecting with the job market and potential future employers.

The placement is carried out by selecting the course EPL 500 during the summer semester of the third year of studies, earning 7.5 ECTS at the undergraduate level (provided the placement is deemed successful). The course is available to third-year students who have successfully completed the prerequisites, CS 342 - Databases and CS 343 - Software Engineering, at the start of the placement.
